PAINTED DOLL | THE DEVIL'S CARNIVAL Call her Dolores. Was she ever? It was Mercy, for a moment. Cora? No, not at all. June Doll. And once upon a time, she a ballerina. No, a toy. Or was it a show pony? A pyromaniac? A witch? Angel? Artist? Ah, if only she would say. Doll has been a faithful daughter of Hell since before she can remember. (Or has she?) The day she came to the Carnival, she shut her mouth for good. No, wait, that isn't right. She used to speak, didn't she? Some here may remember the truth or something like it. Either way, now she cannot speak. ...Will not speak, perhaps. (Silence is, after all, a woman's best garment, is it not?) But, oh, can she sing. She yields to no man, not even the dark lord, himself. She does, however, hold a soft spot for Ticket-Keeper in what's left of her ice-cold, broken heart. She also holds The Scorpion's "soft spots" in her hands and between her teeth. Frequently. Jealous? Don't worry, she loves to play with others...she just can't promise that she'll play nice! (Naughty puppies and traitorous fillies need not apply.) Sit for a spell, see what she's brewing in that rotting barrel, and maybe she'll tell you a tale or two of a love that has failed...
